Steven D. Wangerow (Steve)

Principal / Detroit Metro Office

Steve’s practice includes preparing invalidity, patentability, and freedom-to-practice opinions, as well as preparing and prosecuting domestic and foreign patent applications related to the mechanical, electromechanical, and biomechanical arts.

Steve’s objective is simple — to achieve his client’s goals. Steve’s clients include start-up, middle-market, and Fortune 500 companies. He regularly works with engineers and inventors, in-house counsel, and business managers and executives on a range of patent-related initiatives. With more than a decade of experience, Steve’s work and advice is grounded in seeing each matter from a variety of angles, including the inventor, patent examiner, and potential jurors’ perspectives alike. He is also committed to procuring patents that further the client’s strategic business objectives while firmly withstanding challengers’ attacks in post-grant proceedings and litigation.

While pursuing his engineering degree, Steve worked at Eaton Corporation, where he assisted in the design and development of electro-mechanical automotive powertrain control mechanisms. Following graduation, Steve worked at Axsys Technologies (now General Dynamics), where he served as an Opto-Mechanical Engineer and Project Manager working with land, air, and space-based imaging systems for the astronomical, aerospace, and defense industries. During law school, Steve worked at Harness IP as a full-time Patent Agent and Law Clerk.
