Harness IP, one of the country’s largest intellectual property law firms, is pleased to announce that Metro Dallas patent attorney Stephanie Dowdy was named to the 2021 Texas Rising Stars list. This is the first year Dowdy made the list. This honor is granted to only the most respected attorneys in the state, with no more than 2.5% earning Rising Star status.

Dowdy, a Houston native, joined the firm in 2011. Her practice focuses primarily on obtaining patent rights for clients operating in the mechanical and electromechanical fields, with a particular expertise in technologies like robotics, HVAC systems and compressors, automotive systems and controls, firearms, and refining and processing equipment. In addition to her client responsibilities, Dowdy is an active member of the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee.

Dowdy holds a J.D. and an MBA from Wayne State University and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University. She is an active member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA). In years past, she has hosted the annual “Women in IP” event for the Dallas Chapter. Dowdy was also recently named a 2021 “Woman to Watch” by the AIPLA’s Women in IP Committee.

Nominations for Rising Stars is based on a rigorous, multi-step system of peer reviews and independent research to evaluate key indicators of professional success. Those who make the Rising Stars list must also be under 40 and have practiced law for 10 years or less. Selections are made each year and announced on a state-by-state basis.
