Harness IP Helps Shark Tank Entrepreneur Secure Patent
Harness IP, one of the country’s largest patent and trademark law firms, is pleased to congratulate firm client Max Feber for appearing on TV’s Shark Tank and securing a deal with Mark Cuban. Through his patented Bruw coffee filter system, Feber is making the cold brew coffee process easier and more affordable for home brewers around the world.
“We’re definitely proud of Max,” says attorney Brent Seitz. “It was fun to see him realize that success and to be part of the excitement he experienced on the path from innovative idea to patented product to TV dealmaker.”
Seitz, who is the patent attorney of record for Feber, secured a patent from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in June 2018 for Feber’s cold brew coffee system. The product uses a pair of mason jars joined together by a double-sided lid fitted with a filter and small tube. After steeping ground coffee and water for up to 18 hours in the refrigerator (the “cold brew method”), simply flip the jars over with the tube side up and filtered cold brew coffee is ready to drink.
Feber landed a deal with Shark Tank star Mark Cuban for a $50,000 investment in his company, Bruw, for 30 percent ownership of the company. In addition to their cold brew coffee filter, Bruw sells mason jars as well as ground and whole bean coffee.
Feber’s appearance on Shark Tank marks the first time that one of Seitz’s clients has appeared on the popular show, and is the second appearance by a Harness IP client overall — the first being Talia Goldfarb of Myself Belts who partnered with Daymond John in Season 6.
