Harness IP Attorney Joel Samuels to Appear on PBS’ Ask This Old House
Harness IP is pleased to share that attorney Joel Samuels will appear in a forthcoming episode of the hit PBS show Ask This Old House. The episode, which features a segment filmed at Samuels’ Metro St. Louis home, will air on KETC starting May 18.
Samuels and his family moved into the home in 2012 and noticed a number of issues related to work that the home’s previous owners, now deceased, had completed. After failing to find any official records, Samuels turned to the long-running home improvement show for advice. He reached out to them through their website and heard back from the show’s producers last year. The Boston-based Ask This Old House crew was planning a trip to Abraham Lincoln’s house in Springfield, Illinois, and was looking for additional homeowner projects in the Midwest. Samuels was eager to have them stop by.
“It was great timing,” says Samuels, an intellectual property attorney and Principal in the firm’s St. Louis office. “It was fun to be a small part the historic TV show, and the work they did was of course very appreciated. My only regret is not having them help me install a sound system so I could play ‘Gloria’ for them in honor of the Blues’ Stanley Cup victory over the Bruins.”
The segment was filmed on October 3, 2019 and features cast member Nathan Gilbert. Samuels and Gilbert worked together to finish a kitchen pantry by installing bypass doors and solving a nuisance to the young family with four children. The segment was one of two spots to have been filmed in the St. Louis area for the show’s 18th season.
The episode will air on KETC’s Create channel on May 18 at 7:30 AM and 1:30 PM, and again on May 19 at 3:30 AM.
Samuels’ practice with Harness IP focuses on IP management and litigation in the areas of patents, trade secrets, trademarks, copyrights, and licensing.
