Harness IP adds Former USPTO Examiner Paul Zarek to its St. Louis Office
Harness IP, one of the country’s premier intellectual property law firms, is pleased to announce the addition of former U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Examiner Dr. Paul Zarek to its St. Louis, Missouri office. Dr. Zarek, who holds a Ph.D. in Pharmacology and Molecular Sciences, served as an examiner for eight years determining the patentability of inventions claimed by major pharmaceutical companies and universities. He will join the firm’s BioPharma practice group working to secure the intellectual property assets and business innovations of clients around the globe.

Dr. Zarek joins the firm as its only Patent Agent. He earned his Ph.D. from The John Hopkins University School of Medicine where he used state-of-the-art technology to explore the role of extracellular adenosine on T cell tolerance. He also received Bachelor’s Degrees in both Biology and English from Georgetown University. At the USPTO, he gained extensive knowledge of patent laws and regulations while examining innovations that included small molecule therapeutics, biologics, medical devices and methods of treating a wide variety of diseases.
In collaboration with the BioPharma practice group, Dr. Zarek will prepare and prosecute patents, assist with client research, and advise start-ups up to Fortune 500 companies on best practices for securing valuable intellectual property assets in a competitive marketplace.
