Harness IP employees are called to serve in leadership roles and on the boards of various professional, charitable and civic organizations for local, regional and national organizations. In addition, we are proud when our professionals run marathons to fight cancer and volunteer when and where they are needed.

We are committed as an institution to combatting hunger. Research suggests that families no longer visit emergency food sources for temporary relief, but rather rely on food banks as a supplemental food source. In addition, the senior population is beginning to show that individuals over the age of 60 are experiencing heightened food insecurity and are particularly vulnerable to the negative health and nutrition problems associated with food insecurity. In response, Harness IP participates annually in a major food drive benefitting local community food banks. There are many less fortunate than we are, and this annual commitment seeks to combat hunger close to home.

We make sure to add joy to the holiday season. Harness IP is involved annually with several programs created to fulfill disadvantaged family and individual children’s holiday “wish lists,” including Yatooma’s Foundation for the Kids, Lighthouse of Oakland County Adopt-A-Family, the Salvation Army’s Angel program, and BASML’s Motion for Kids. Each of these programs is designed as a seasonal initiative to assist children and families in need. Harness IP provides much-needed support over the holiday season, and we gladly step-up to help spread the joy of the season to those who are disadvantaged.

We care about our veterans. Harness IP supports the Joshua Chamberlain Society (JCS), a grass roots 501(c)(3) federally tax exempt charity that was formed with the mission of providing long term support to veterans that sustained permanent combat injuries fighting the war on terror. JCS also provides long term support to the children of veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice of service on our behalf. Harness IP partners helped create the organization, and continue to be involved in a variety of capacities.

Harness IP supports attorney pro bono representation. We believe in public service, and much of the Firm’s pro bono work over the years has reflected our commitment to providing legal services to economically underprivileged individuals, persons and organizations of limited means.

We do what we can to minimize our institutional footprint. Harness IP supports environmental stewardship. We maintain recycling programs throughout the firm, as well as strive to purchase recycled supplies whenever possible.
