Harness IP is pleased to announce that Matt Cutler a Principal in the firm’s St. Louis, Missouri office, recently received the 2018 “Rev. John J. Cavanaugh, C.S.C., Award” presented by the University of Notre Dame Alumni Association. This year’s award recognizes the hard work that Cutler and his Notre Dame classmate Randy Soriano are doing to serve wounded military service members and the families of killed-in-action service members. They accepted the award at a November 7 dinner in South Bend, Indiana.

Cutler and Soriano started the Joshua Chamberlain Society (JCS) in 2008. The organization’s support comes in the form of monetary assistance, tuition payments, networking assistance, or any services that help improve lives of “JCS Heroes,” or veterans receiving their support. Specifically, JCS has modified homes for the heroes, helped with Christmas presents for the heroes’ children and even bought a car for one of the fallen hero’s daughters. The organization currently supports 19 JCS heroes in the metro St. Louis and Nashville areas.

The Rev. John J. Cavanaugh, C.S.C, Award was established in 1985 to honor a Notre Dame alumnus or alumna who has performed outstanding service in the field of government, patriotism, public service, or local, state and national politics. Cutler and Soriano are among the youngest honorees of the award and are the first to be co-recipients.

In addition to his work with JCS, Cutler is a nationally recognized patent attorney with specific expertise in litigation and strategic IP portfolio counseling. He is a Principal in the firm’s Clayton, Missouri, office.
