Harness IP Principal Jessica Sachs Named to “Women in the Law” List

Harness IP is pleased to announce that firm Principal Jessica Sachs has been named to Michigan Lawyers Weekly’s “Women in the Law” class of 2018. The class will be honored at the publication’s annual luncheon and awards celebration on Thursday, September 20, 2018.

“I am honored to be a part of this year’s ’Women in the Law’ class,” said Sachs. “My career successes are the result of great education, the strong support of my colleagues and top-notch mentors I’ve met along the way.”

Most recently, Sachs has been focused on expanding the firm’s foreign-originated trademark work and nurturing the firm’s relationships with law firms around the globe. She works closely with clients in the U.K., Norway and Israel, in particular, and protects trademarks on everything from consumer products to military equipment. Sachs also works with many companies in Michigan, including tier one auto suppliers and a well-known furniture manufacturer. In addition, she protects the trademarks of a local college and has done work for a local educational non-profit.

Outside of her client responsibilities, Sachs is an active member of the International Trademark Association (INTA). Over the years, she has served on numerous INTA committees. Her most recent appointment was to the Harmonization of Trademark Law and Practice Committee where she took on the challenge of understanding the impact of free trade agreements on intellectual property law.

Sachs earned her J.D. from George Washington University and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, cum laude, from Tufts University.

According to the Michigan Lawyers Weekly website, attorneys receiving the honor were chosen for exhibiting several key factors, including: commitment to excellence in the practice of law; is an inspiring and accomplished leader in the profession; seeks improvements to the legal community and their communities at large; shows leadership in improving the justice system in Michigan; and contributes significant time and effort to volunteerism and/or pro bono. A full list of honorees is available on their website.
