Harness IP is pleased to announce that St. Louis Principal Joel Samuels has been named Chair-Elect of The Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis’ (BAMSL) Patent, Trademark, and Copyright Section. Samuels will begin in his new role on May 1, 2020. He is currently serving as the Secretary of the Section.

“BAMSL’s Patent, Trademark, and Copyright Section is an integral part of the local IP legal community, providing educational and networking opportunities for St. Louis attorneys,” said Samuels. “It’s an honor to serve on the Committee and I am thrilled to take on this responsibility for the organization.”

Samuels’ practice focuses on intellectual property litigation in the areas of patents, trade secrets, trademarks and copyrights. He has experience in all aspects of federal litigation, including conducting discovery, Markman proceedings, motion practice, conducting trial and complying with settlement obligations. Samuels also assists in the preparation of legal opinions, including validity and infringement opinions. Samuels earned a J.D. from Pennsylvania State University, Dickinson School of Law. He also graduated magna cum laude from Saint Louis University with a B.A. in Economics and a B.A. in Political Science.

The Patent, Trademark & Copyright Section offers programs and opportunities for intellectual property practitioners to stay abreast of new legal developments. The Section Steering Committee holds lunch meetings on the second Tuesday of each odd-numbered month and encourages all area practitioners to join.
